Raisin and Yogurt Bread

Raisin and Yogurt Bread is a very easy recipe. It is a sweet and very soft leavened bread! This bread is perfect for breakfast and as snack!

Raisin and Yogurt Bread


  • 200 g of flour;
  • 150 g of wholemeal flour;
  • 1 teaspoon of dried yeast;
  • 150 ml of water;
  • 125 g of yogurt with grains;
  • 50 g of raisins;
  • grated peel of a lemon;
  • 1 tablespoon of oil;
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar.

Preparing the Raisin and Yogurt Bread

Put the raisin in a small bowl with some water and let them stand for about 10 minutes. Then, dry and squeeze them to remove the water.

In a bowl, put together the flour and the wholemeal flour. Make a hole in the centre and pour the yogurt, the sugar and the yeast.

Knead the ingredients while adding water, few at time. When the dough begins to come together, add the oil.

Then, when the dough starts to get out from the side of the bowl, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.

Add the raisins and knead with your hands for about 10 minutes. Shape the dough in a ball.

Grease a bowl with some oil. Put the ball into it and cover with cling film.

Leave it to rise until doubled the size.

Note: The rising time depends on the warmth of the place!

Line a plumcake mold with baking paper.

Giving the shape to the dough

Turn  the risen dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently push it. Knead it a bit.

Divide the dough in two halves. Divide each piece in half again.  Shape each half in a loaf: you will get 4 of them. Roll the loafs together and arrange the spiral obtained into the plumcake mold.

Cover again with cling film and let it rise for about 1 hour.

Bake the Raisin and Yogurt Bread

Preheat the oven to 180° C.

Bake the Raisin and Yogurt Bread for about 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Sprinkle the top with some icing sugar, as needed.
