Meat Stew

I often prepare the Meat Stew, especially as the main course for our dinner: it is a warm, tasty and complete dish, to match with a slice of good bread!

Usually I prepare this stew using a pressure cooker because the cooking time is short. However it can also be prepared using a simple pot.

Meat Stew

Ingredients (for 2 people):

  • 400 g of morsel meat;
  • 2 potatoes;
  • 2 carrots;
  • 2 glasses of frozen pea;
  • 3 tablespoons of sauteed vegetables (onion, carrot, celery);
  • 400 ml of tomato puree;
  • oil, salt and pepper a.r..

Preparing the Meat Stew

Peel the potatoes and cut them in 4 pieces. Peel also the carrots and cut them in 2 pieces. We must cut the vegetables in big pieces: in this way they don’t untie during the cooking.

Brown the morsel meat with two tablespoons of oil into the pressure cooker.

When the meat will be no more pink, add the sauteed vegetables and mix to flavour.

Add the potatoes, the carrots, the peas and the tomato puree.

Flavour with a teaspoon of salt, mix using a spoon and cover the pot.

When the pressure cooker begins to hiss, lower the burner to the minimum. Continue the cooking for 10 minutes and then turn the heat off.

Allow air to escape of the pressure cooker and remove the cover. If the sauce is too fluent, thicken it continuing the cooking at high heat for some minutes.

Note: If we are using a classic pot, we shall cut the vegetables in small morsels and increase the cooking time. The total cooking time with a classic pot is usually about 30 minutes.

Serving the Meat Stew

The Meat Stew is almost ready to be served!

Cut the vegetables in small morsel. Serve the Meat Stew hot, with a bit of oil and, as needed, sprinkle it with some pepper.
