Hazelnut Chocolate Tarts are very easy to prepare and they are delicious!
These tarts are perfect for breakfast or as a snack. I made single serving tarts: very handy! Especially for your children to bring at school as snack; in fact they can be easily wrapped.
We can serve the Hazelnut Chocolate Tarts also like a dessert. We can combine them with some whipped cream or ice cream!
Shortcrust pastry is a basic and very versatile recipe. It is often used to make biscuits or tarts. This version, with the hazelnuts into the dough, is very special!
I garnished the tarts with some chocolate cream. We can use some jam if you prefer.
Hazelnut Chocolate Tarts
- 250 g of flour;
- 50 g of hazelnut ;
- 200 g of butter (at room temperature );
- 100 g of sugar;
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder;
- 1 pinch of salt;
- chocolate cream to garnish.
Preparing the Hazelnut Chocolate Tarts
Blend the hazelnut with 50 g of sugar until a flour is obtained. Be careful to not overheat them.
Note: We can make our work easier by directly buying the hazelnuts flour! This flour can be found quite easily in supermarkets, but it is pretty expensive.
Add the butter in cubes, the flour, the remaining sugar, the vanilla and the salt.
Blend until a sandy dough is obtained.
Move the dough onto a clean surface. Knead with your hands until a firm and uniform dough is obtained.
Shape the shortcrust in a rectangle, but not too much thick.
Cover it with cling film and keep it into the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Composing the Hazelnut Chocolate Tarts
Grease and flour very well 6 small pans for tarts.
Flour a surface and take the shortcrust pastry out of the fridge.
Knead it quickly. Roll the pastry out to an even thickness of about 4-5 mm.
With a cutter, cut 6 circles. Line the pans with these circles.
With a fork make the holes onto the surface of each tart. Spread the shortcrust pastry with some chocolate cream.
Roll out the pastry left behind and cut it in the shapes you prefer. They can be used to decorate our tarts.
Cooking the Hazelnut Chocolate Tarts
Preheat the oven to 170° C.
Bake the Hazelnut Chocolate Tarts for about 25 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
Take the small tarts out of the oven and let them cool before pulling them out of the pans.
Sprinkle with icing sugar as needed.
