Cheese Vegetables Pizza Roll is very easy to prepare. It is perfect for a packed lunch or as starter.
Sometimes I prepare more pizza dough than needed, so that I can use the excess to prepare something else for the day after. In this way, I maximise my time. In fact, the roll is prepared following my well proven pizza recipe. I just changed the kind of flour.
Ingredients can be varied according to your taste. You can even add more.
Cheese Vegetables Pizza Roll
Ingredients for the pizza dough:
- 200 ml of water;
- 190 g of strong flour;
- 130 g of wholemeal flour;
- 1/2 teaspoon of sugar;
- 1 teaspoon of dried yeast;
- 2 teaspoons of salt;
- olive oil a.r.

- 3 slices of ham;
- 3 slices of cheese;
- 1 carrot;
- 2 glasses of peas;
- 1 courgette;
- 1/2 leek;
- olive oil, salt and pepper a.r..
Preparing the Cheese Vegetables Pizza Roll
Preparing the dough
In a bowl put both the flours, the yeast, the sugar and few water. Knead and add the remaining water, few at time.
When all the water is absorbed by the flours, add the salt. Knead until a uniform and soft dough is obtained. Then, shape the dough in a ball.
Grease a clean bowl with some olive oil and arrange the ball into it. Cover with cling film and let it rise until doubled in size.
Preparing the filling
In the meantime, let’s prepare the vegetables: slice the leek, peel and cut the carrots in cubes. In the end, cut also the courgette in cubes.
Warm a spoon of oil in a non stick pan. Add the sliced leek and the carrots. Mix the vegetables and cook for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
When this cooking time is over, add the courgette cubes and the peas. Cook for about 10 minutes more.
When they are cooked, flavour the vegetables with salt and pepper. Then, let them cool.
Put together the pizza roll
Line a plum cake mold with a piece of baking paper.
When the pizza dough reaches the rising, roll it out onto a lightly floured surface.
Knead it quickly, then roll it out with a rolling pin in a rectangular shape. Beware not to roll it out too thin.
Cover the top with the ham, the cheese and the vegetables. Roll from one of the longer edges. Then, seal all the extremities.
Arrange the pizza roll obtained onto the plum cake mold prepared before, leaving the seal on the bottom.
Cover the pizza roll with cling film and let it rise for about 1 hour.
Cooking the Cheese Vegetables Pizza Roll
Preheat the oven to 190° C in convection mode.
Bake the Cheese Vegetables Pizza Roll for about 30-40 minutes.
Take it out of the oven and let it cool before slicing it!
