Butter Biscuits are very easy and quick sweets to prepare. For this recipe few ingredients are necessary: butter (of course!), flour and sugar… nothing else!
I’m always in the need of simple and quick recipe to prepare some biscuits at the very last moment. It frequently happens to have few time to spend on the kitchen or the time is used to to prepare something for lunch or dinner. But, you know, I love preparing biscuits, cakes and sweets in general! So, I can’t give up on them!
I found today’s recipe on a small Dutch recipe book, but I changed it a little bit to meet our flavour!
- 55 g of sugar;
- 115 g of butter at room temperature;
- 175 g of flour;
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla;
- 35 g of candied orange in small cubes (optional).
Preparing the Butter Biscuits
In a bowl put together the butter in cubes with the flour.
Knead the ingredients with your fingers until a sandy mixture is obtained.
Add the sugar and the vanilla. Knead until a soft pastry is obtained.
Now, if you want to increase the flavour, add the candied orange and combine it to the pastry.
Move the pastry between two baking papers. Roll it out to an even thickness of about 4-5 mm, using a rolling pin.
Move the pastry into the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Take it out of the fridge and cut the pastry with a cookie cutter.
Re-knead and re-roll the dough trimmings and cut more biscuits.
Arrange the biscuits on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Preheat the oven to 180° C in convection mode.
Bake the Butter Biscuits for about 12 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
Take them out of the oven and let it cool before moving them onto a platter.
Enjoy your small bites!
